Volunteers frustrated by mixed-messages from city leaders

The Lee’s Summit City Council’s handling of proposals for Arnold Hall has volunteers who’ve worked on recommendations for city arts facilities frustrated or angry. Lee’s Summit survey on services reports upward trends

Lee’s Summit recently received the results of a survey asking residents to rate its performance on city services. Survey results in 2013 indicated satisfaction with city services trending upwards, including snow removal. Read more....

Quarry proposal in Lee’s Summit promises no blasting

No blasting will happen at a proposed rock quarry at Pryor Road and Interstate 470 in Lee’s Summit. The project’s owner, Flip Short, has announced that instead of explosives, the excavators will use only a mechanical system that uses hydraulics to expand wedges in holes drilled into the rock to split it. Then it can be broken into smaller pieces by another machine, a hoe-ram, and crushed. Read more....
